Why is Panmure Cottage important to us ?
Panmure Cottage is located in front of Saint Patrick School along Queens Road. It has been Their since the 19th Century. It was currently located at McDonald and moved to the front of Saint Patrick School.
In the 19th Century people lived in this cottage . Now this cottage is a historical place for people to come and visit and explore life in the past. The little cottage is made from Volcanic rocks. People in the 19th Century used a fireplace to keep their house warm and for cooking their food. When the men come into the house they have to take off their hats and some woman will either take off their hats or leave them on. In the olden days people had very vintage things. They had things such as an old bucket, vacuum cleaner and old furniture. All the rooms inside this cottage tell a different story. The first room on your right when you walk in from the front door is a piece of furniture made by a 12 year old girl. The Cottage is important because it is part of the history of Panmure. The more we understand about our environment, the better we can look after it.
We are learning about the history of the Panmure Cottage. I know I have learnt this because I can explain about the things that I saw inside the Cottage.
